Air Canada’s Latin America Expansion: Lima Relaunch & 3 New Routes

Air Canada just announced major additions to its Winter 2025–26 schedule. According to its official release, the airline is resuming flights to Lima, Peru, and launching three fresh routes to Belize, Puerto Escondido (Mexico), and Tepic (Riviera Nayarit). These changes reflect Air Canada's “New Frontiers Strategy” to expand its Latin America and Mexico footprint—and travellers are paying attention.

Lima Is Back: Peru Returns to Air Canada's Map

Air Canada is bringing back its popular service to Lima with twice-weekly connections from both Montreal and Toronto, running from December 5/6, 2025 to March 2026.
Highlights:

  • Montreal ↔ Lima via AC 88/89: Wednesdays & Saturdays

  • Toronto ↔ Lima via AC 86/87: Tuesdays/Fridays & Thursdays/Sundays

This reinstates Lima flights that were suspended in 2023. The route now returns on the wings of growing demand for Peruvian cultural tourism, from Machu Picchu to colonial charm.

Three New “Hidden Gem” Winter Routes

  1. Montreal → Belize City (BZE)

    • Starting 8 December 2025, weekly Mondays, return Tuesdays

    • Perfect for the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, Mayan ruins, and tropical relaxation.

  2. Toronto → Puerto Escondido (PXM)

    • Begins 17 December 2025, weekly Wednesdays

    • Ideal for surfers, beach-lovers, and anyone seeking a laid-back Oaxacan getaway.

  3. Vancouver → Tepic (TPQ)

    • Launches 17 December 2025, weekly Wednesdays

    • Gateway to Riviera Nayarit—near Sayulita, Punta Mita—with the new Tepic–Puerto Vallarta highway opening soon.

Why This Matters for Travellers

  • 80,000+ weekly seats across 55+ daily flights to 52 sun destinations—Air Canada’s largest winter lineup yet.

  • 16% capacity increase on Latin American routes vs the previous winter.

  • Opens direct links to emerging vacation areas, offering travellers fresh, tropical escapes without additional layovers.

Who Benefits?

  1. Leisure Seekers: Now easier to book direct sun-lit adventures in March, April—ideal for winter sun escapes.
  2. Cultural & Adventure Lovers: Access Lima’s historic richness, Belize’s reefs, Mexico’s coastal surf and cultural traditions.
  3. European Connection: Great for Europe-bound travellers using Canada as a hub—one-stop options to South America & Mexico.
  4. Cargo Market Boost: These routes also aid Air Canada’s cargo expansion amid rising freight demand.
